These striking night-time images show a giant elephant emerging through clouds of glowing dust like something from a wildlife blockbuster. Photographer Mark A Fernley captured the scene at the Shompole Plains hide in Kenya using carefully controlled lighting from inside the hide, with back lights illuminating the swirling dust while front lights picked out the elephant’s features as it slowly approached the water.
